Best compression utility

Ok, this debate has been in a lot of peoples threads, and I'd like to talk about it properly here, instead of hijacking other peoples threads.
There are many open source file compressing utilities that are probably better than 7zip AND Winrar (or so I've heard - TUGzip and lsarc?) but the focus here is between the two of them alone.
Can anyone tell me why Winrar is apparently better than 7zip?
7zip: Better compression ratios.
Totally free, and doesnt nag the life out of you every time you turn the thing on for money
Supports WAYYYYYY more filetypes than winzip for extraction only, fully support filetypes are rougly the same.
Winzip: Looks pretty?
