2.6 is coming out when Hirato and the devs think they've done enough to it for it to be released. Do you want it now and it be poor, or do you want it later and it be awesome?

Just to add onto V's post, Graphite is working on a Vehicle simulator and Flight simulator. A working version of that might take awhile. Plus water wars is in the SVN

So, if you want to access that certain mode, is it in the mode selection tab of the loadmap menu, or part of the launcher?
Actually, that would be real great... make all the modes (FPS, SSP, RPG, MovieCube, etc) accessible from the loadmap menu. I hate it when I open a map in the wrong mode. I use the launcher because my .BAT launchers don't work with me.

I would go with Option 2: Wait for Awesomeness.

yes to all your questions. It's versatile enough to do any of your queries, though you'll need to get familiar with the engine before you start doing anything fancy.
