Increase distance?

Ok. I have a big map I'm making. You start out fairly high and slowly go down into a huge pit filled with lava. I have walls surrounding the whole pit. Here's my question: can I increase the viewable distance of the map? The walls surrounding the pit look weird with the skybox I have (and I want to keep the skybox). You can see the skybox perfectly, but the walls, which are in FRONT of the skybox, are in the distance.

Ok, I think i might know. go into edit mode, press "/" and type "fog 100024" (so that the textbox looks like this in the end: "/fog 100024". It should make the fog that is lowering visibility disappear.
