Hmm, that could be an idea, yes. However, one of the elements I have in mind, is to allow the player to do some construction as well, using said resources. Also, I'm curious if Sandbox would save map modifications to a custom file. That way, the base map remains unchanged, but the player could load up their game and still have all their changes/constructions.

The link in my signature leads to a tool I've been in the process of making. It allows you to edit the scripts for your maps within the program and will check for any errors that you've made and, for the errors that do come up, hopefully give example commands correctly written. It will eventually have a list of all the different commands you can use in the map cfg and examples of how you use them, so that you can learn how to do anything you like with it.

I've spent 5 days at it now and it's already making very good progress. I release a new version nearly every day so it's well worth coming back to from time to time.

Hello peoples.

This is both an idea exposition, and a question.

As part of a steampunk adventure game I'm working on, I want to include the ability to mine for materials, as well as the capability for flight for the player.

For the mining part, I'm unsure if the map geometry can be modified while in game mode. In other words, I want the player to have a limited ability to deform the map, in search of said materials, in designated spots the player will need to find first.

In order to find some of these spots, the ability to fly to them would be required, as some would be found on chunks of floating land..

Any and all suggestions and tips to do both of these in Sandbox will be welcome.

Please write as clear as you can, txt typing is fine, however please use as little slang as possible. And bear in mind this is a forum for kids as well as adults, "...and smoke an..." lets not encourage the idea of smoking to kids.
