Re: Max map size?
Actually, in Sandbox 2.5 the map size cap off was 16 despite the fact that the slider went up to 20. If the slider in 2.6 only goes up to 16 it means it's perfectly fine (anyway, isn't 16 map size big enough?
). If someone said not to go past 18 map size, they are using a version previous to 2.6, so they wouldn't know that the map size caps off at 16 despite the slider going to 20.
So to answer your question, if you're already using a map size of 16, then there is no way of manually moving past that (that I know of).
Have fun mapping!

Re: Max map size?
Ummm... not sure about this, you might be able to use /mapenlarge to make it bigger, I don't know if it goes past 20 though...
Also, why would you need an 18 size map? That would lag terribly.

Re: Max map size?
trust me when I say 16 or more then enough you could get sever lag in it you add to much. There is other codes can add expand it. I have been working on my game for a while and even got it look good. Just trust me when I say 16 is over more then necessary.

Re: Max map size?
While there might be codes to enlarge maps, in 2.5, (and I'm assuming 2.6) Hirato told me that the max map size was 16.

Re: Max map size?
no you see i was snagging at a problem in the game that i was making which was:
you cant carry values from one map to a different map and i wanted to create a large kingdom full of cities and countryside that you could go exploring through by different maps . but as you cant carry values i wanted to see if there was a way to make a massive kingdom in one file. plus i dont get what you mean by server. can people not just download the game and just play rather than having to link to a server?

Re: Max map size?
Actually... I don't know whether it works, but if you add all your variables to the "defaults.cfg" in data, you should be able to carry them from map to map. It should write the variables to your defaults after exiting, so you may be able to continue from where you left off.
And as for extending maps... type this into the console: Extending the map would cause the game to lag... quite a lot, So I would be careful.
Hope this Helps.

Re: Max map size?
@Leo: I already mentioned that. But thanks for the backup.
Also: thanks for the defaults thing, I needed that.
