I am getting persistent crashes shortly after loading any map. The whole screen will freeze and just a small square in the bottom left corner will keep moving. Cannot access menus or anything, have to force quit every time. Happened on Fish map and then on any map after that.
Windows 7, Lenovo E520 Laptop with Switchable Graphics, 4 G RAM.
Update:
Today it did it several times on Tutorial map and recovered soon after. I switched the graphics to integrated and it made no difference. I turned off iTunes and it made no difference. It gradually got worse, until, once again I had to Force Quit the program. This is a clean install of Sandbox with the menu bugfix code pasted in.
I'm using 2.6.1, is there a more stable version - I just want to learn game design, First Person Style. I'm going to get version 2.3 and try that, I'll report what happens.

Screen-Freezing in ver 2.6.1
Re: Screen-Freezing in ver 2.6.1
v 2.3 seems to be working fine so far. But one thing hasn't changed: the forest map has a frame count that fluctuates between 12 and 139 fps, and it isn't affected by switching my graphics from integrated to AMD, in fact the whole Sandbox seems to ignore the Graphics Card - is there a way to fix this, or is it a known bug?
I can run Team Fortress 2 at High res without any problems while iTunes and Firefox run in the background, so it seems that the forest map should run just as well on its own. TF2 is recognised as a game and uses the AMD by default, whereas Sandbox doesn't.

Re: Screen-Freezing in ver 2.6.1
I just want to point out that the forest map will fluctuate for anything, because of all the particle effects and where you're looking. There are several particle emitters in hillsides, it's constantly raining, there are loads of trees. That's a very intensive map processing wise.
As for the bug, I believe it's known, but I can't remember if there's a fix for it.

Yes Arc, it's known, PAS might have some problems with AMD graphics cards.
I know cork has some performance issues with his 5850, while I can play it fine with a 5830 (which should be slower)
