when i try to save the map i just made in fps, in the top left corner of the screen it says "could not write map to packages\base\fps\temp.ogz". it has done this on two different PCs

Did you run Sandbox as an administrator? If not, then try it. Running normally may not give you access to the Sandbox files/folders, which causes errors like the one you're getting.
