I don't see a place to put this,so I'll just ask here.

Reading your licensing agreement for your free game maker program it has this:

When you submit content (e.g. packages, maps, models) for inclusion in Platinum Arts
Sandbox Free 3D Game Maker you grant Platinum Arts LLC a Creative Commons 3.0 - BY SA
license to copy, modify, and redistribute the submitted content unless
another license is submitted with the content.

SA = (Share Alike) You allow others to distribute derivative works only under a license identical to the license that governs your work

Doesn't this mean that if I was to make a game using your free program and could make money off it,that you have the right to take the game from me and cut me out all together?

Let me say I have no problem with giving credit to you for what looks like a great program, but it does make me wonder if I could be doing allot of work for nothing,if I'm reading it wrong I would like to know. :?:

2 Things
1) Yes you can. Email mike at platniumarts@gmail.com for more info
2) Another thing, edit your post to not say "question" as it is against the rules
Project 1: Da Chest Collector [TBD]
Project 2: Tis a secret [End of summer] announcement June 22 2011
Project 3: An even bigger secret!

Good question:
First off, you retain the copyright to your work no matter what. You can license it however you like. The statement you are referring to is saying that if you want Sandbox Gamemaker to distribute your work officially in their package, they require that you license it CC-BY-SA. If you don't want them to distribute your work, then you don't have to license it to them at all. Technically that term of the license really should be in the license but in a readme file since it is kind of confusing.

If you choose to license your work CC-BY-SA, that means anyone can download and distribute your software (even for money) - but if they do they have to also give their user the right to distribute (resell or give away for free) their software and source code (that's the SA part). So, how much do you think they can sell it for if every person who ever received it is allowed to distribute it for how ever much they like to as well?
(excluding the cost of the media such as burning a CD, the answer is $0)

That's why CC-BY-SA is considered a "free" license - imagine if microsoft let anyone copy and give away windows for however much they like to all their friends (CC-BY-SA). How much do you think microsoft can sell windows for, and how much can I sell windows to my friend for? $0 because they can always get it from someone else for cheaper (or free).
