What is the difference between the mutiplatform version and the regular windows version? Does the multiplatform version allow me to play with MAC LINUX and PC users? I have a gaming PC by the way with windows vista. I know I need to get windows 7

The multi-platform version is so that you can compile it to whatever operating system you run. It has nothing to do with who you can collaborate or play with.
