Beyond the playground: Innovative uses for Sandbox!

While working in Sandbox, I realized that this program is wonderful on many different levels, and I began to wonder just how some people may be using Sandbox other than what it was intended for (A sandbox style level editor). One thing about sandbox that really stands out for me, is that the software has the potential to land a would be game designer a job in a studio. The one thing that can make or break your chances of getting in the "Biz" is your career portfolio. Your portfolio is one of the first things a studio sees when looking for potential employees. For all intents and purposes your portfolio and resume is your handshake with your next employer, as such you want it to be a firm grip, full of confidence, presented with a smile. I have seen many studios post job classifieds requesting to see previous levels designed (amongst other things). So Im not sure if someone beat me to the punch, but Sandbox has great potential as a Game Design Portfolio Suite. Now it may not be a ticket to studios like E.A., Blizzard, Unreal, and etc, (You never know though, it could.) but it could land you in a studio that will get your foot in the door and is one step closer to those big studios. With Sandbox you have the tools to create a well rounded portfolio, including videos, pictures, and demos of your work. Even though this is one innovative way Sandbox can be used, the reason I started this post was to discuss peoples thoughts, facts, and opinions about using sandbox created content in a portfolio, as well as ways other than the original purpose or portfolio building you may have come up with. Looking forward to your responses.

I know I (and Pizzalover101) have used this for school projects, so that's another use for it.

Theres a lot of potential for architects to give customers walkthroughs of their house plans with this software. I am using the blueprint of a mansion and it looks wonderful. I am not sure what the default gridsize scale is but for simplicity I said it was 1 sqaure foot and built the house from that perspective. Honestly after seeing it with the Robocatmonkeything model its probably closer to 1.5-2 sq ft, but it still looks realistic.

Yep, PAS is more then just a game engine. Its a portal to a person's inner creativety. It can be used to make zombies, or you can blue prints for a building, anything.
