A few questions

I found sandbox awhile ago, back when it was in early development and it looked very promising. I downloaded the current version it a few days ago and I have to say it's one of the most easy to use, powerful and fun gamemakers I've ever used. But there are a few things I'm wondering.
As far as cutscenes go, mainly. With this new machinima maker, is that just to make movies, or can you export these as cutscenes to be used in your game? I know its in the early stages, but this would seem like a very useful tool if your trying to create a game that has a strong focus on story.
Also how flexible is this engine? If I wanted to make a first person shooter, like Halo or something, would it be possible? There just has to be some catch.... it's just so amazing!

Hi swords,
you probably needed to post this in support but no worrys
1. I believe this is what your talking about
Cutscene link
2. fps mode on sandbox is virtually no-existent. Although it was created from the cube 2 engine (which supports Sauerbraten, a fps) the creators erased most traces of a first person shooter mode on SB.
So i don't
believe you can create an fps.
Best of luck on any future projects!

You certainly can create an FPS and we're going to do a kid friendly one with squirtguns soon. Take care.

Sorry Mike.
I was thinking along the lines of Halo or something like that because that was what swordofkings was asking and I didn't think that was possible
But by fps you mean water wars right?
BTW when are you guys going to release it, it sounds SO MUCH FUN!!!!

I too, can not wait for this!

I tried the cube2 engine, and it seemed like it could work out, but I think I'll wait and see how this will work out, since this has that awesome movie makey thing going for it, which would make a 3rd person narrative a lot easier I think.
Thank you for answering my questions, you guys are doing a great job with this thing.

Water guns would be cool, but nerf would be so much cooler, unless you want to use super soakers.
once the fps is up and running, i guess you could go ahead and make some Blender Models of weapons and replace the squirt guns with your models and "enhance" the scripting a little, then i suppose you could make an FPS like Halo.

how about a kiddie team fortress 2?
All those characters as kids of 8 or 9 years old with squirt guns and water balloons?
TF2 characters are great... they'd be great as kids too!
Team Tree-House 2!

heh, that would be fun, yet, the spy would be tricky, being able to change appearance to look like someone on the other team, keep the accents cos it makes it cooler, and Team Tree-House would be the first, then move onto TTH2
