Yes, the main site is powered by Joomla (however we're taking a look at Drupal at the moment for another alternative).

I have to really warn you though, be very, VERY careful with free hosts. They're usually more prone to security breaches, data loss, and having complete idiots for owners of the hosting space.

I could probably make a better site myself or set up something like joomla on one of the many nice free hosts I have found in my time playing around in the web making department. if I'm not wrong I'm pretty sure the sandbox site is made from joomla.
Yeah, I'm working on creating a real website (I've had a few years experience in the web making department as well) but there really isn't anything to put up for right now. Wetpaint isn't a website-making place, but a wiki, so basically members of the team can join up and edit it with new information and also see what's happening. I'm using it because it allows for more flexibility and we can also stick up information and change it around much more easily. Once the game becomes more of a solid project with some work to show rather than just 'concept' I'll put up a website so that people can see what we've got going for us.

I'm already using a free host that's very secure and have been using it for a looong time now. If the game gets big enough to attract unwanted attention (hackers, people wanting to breach the system) then we'll have money to switch to a more secure paid host, but I think for now, no one would want to mess with a little project that has nothing to show. Just my opinion...

Methinks Hirato means the preservation of stats/inventory/quests and whatnot, even when you leave the server, it probably should be maintained. The question is of how to do it. ;)

Ah, I see. Well respawn would simply be on the same map, which would just be a saved set of coords. Information would be backed up on a server, which is where the most trouble lies, to find someone that could make that sort of connection and put that together. However, didn't you also mention that there would be savegames? We could set it up that a savegame would happen automatically on the exit of a client and backed up to a central server (one of my computers) to be saved in case of an accident.

with state management, I also mean that when a player leaves a map and then re-enters it, he is seeing what is roughly the same world that existed when he left (ie, recently killed monsters are still dead, players are still roughly the same place, etc)
This is not a url, clicking it is pointless

Ahh, I see what you mean...yeah, that'll be something to work on, but it's not a terribly important gameplay flaw, so that may come a little bit later on.

Welcome to the team! And, if you don't mind, I'd like you to change your signature to the one that says "i support ringaard" as it will show that you're a member of the team rather than the creator of the game. Much appreciated!

I will suggest some models for your needs, and share my thoughts so I guess you can consider me "Part of the team" but I really don’t think I can fit another sig with the rest of my logos...I’ve already been warned once before by obsidian.

P.S. I'm still working on my MMO but I’ll try to help you as much as I can.

Alright, sounds good! And you'll definitely be a part of the team, but don't need to put the "i support ringaard" sig in if you can't fit it. It's mostly to spread the awareness of Ringaard, and since most of the community already knows about it, then it's all good! ;) Good luck with your MMO, too! We can work together, I hope.

Sounds good :)

Here's a start --> http://www.turbosquid.com/

One of the best places for models if you havent been to the site already.
