Map saving not showing up.

Post by TheIntercooler »

I trolled around a bit and couldn't find the answer to my issue before making this post. When I create a new map, I can save it in editor just fine, but when I go into the base folder where the other maps are mine isn't there.

I've tried for both rpg and fps mode, Ive used /samemap insertname even f5 in editing mode the map saves but only to the point I can open it in the editor still, no .cfg file is created.

The path to your map directory is my_stuff/packages/base/rpg (or fps, krs. It depends on the mode you save the map in). The other preloaded maps in Sandbox come from packages/base. This folder does not include your maps.

A Map, and a Game, are two separate things.

A Map is merely a map, located at the file path described above.
A Game, is the scripting that makes that Map come alive.

A Map alone, will show up in the Editor, under My Maps. But to begin creating a Game, you must first create the files manually, and place them in the proper folder. See this Tutorial, to get you started: http://www.sandboxgamemaker.com/wiki/in ... G_tutorial

The very first section tells you where to create the folder and files.

After that is done, start up the Sandbox software and simply type out: /newgame MYGAMENAMEHERE

This will load your game, which calls up your map as well.

Hope this was helpful =)
