I know this is quite random but I was wondering if anyone had any experiences with intermittent fasting. It is where instead of fasting for 30 days or a long period of time, you fast for 24 hours, for however many days a week you want. I think some people just do it once a week, and some other do it every other day. I'm still in the data gathering stage but I'm personally giving it a shot doing it once a week and going from there. My plan is to eat dinner at 6pm the day before, and then on fasting day not eat again until 6pm. Fasting in this method is supposed to have a host of health benefits and if carried out for a bit, just about as healthy as if you fasted for a long period of time, maybe more. I haven't found the exact data on that. Anyway, if anyone is interested I'll be posting links on here but for more info for now just google intermittent fasting. Also as a disclaimer I'm not a doctor or anything related, I'm just trying it out since it seems to have worked well for other people. Take care!

Re: Intermittent Fasting
Yeah I heard that it sheds off old cells and generates new ones, or something to that extent. this is the way we do it in Islam;
before sunrise we eat breakfast. i would recommend drinking a glass of milk and a glass of water after you finish eating because you tend to get thirsty in the day. and then all throughout the day you dont eat anything, including not drinking water. at sunset is when we eat. so basically from sunrise to sunset there is no eating. you can imagine it as eating a big lunch and dinner while skipping lunch.
so if I fasted today it would be from 6:51am to 7:01pm, which is wow, exactly what you intended haha.
i think if you do it for once a week or so like you plan to you'll be grateful for every bite when your having dinner. if you have any questions holla back

Re: Intermittent Fasting
"What happens when you fast? Some interesting biological things, apparently. For one, the body moves to mobilize fat stores from the adipose tissue (the fat under your skin) to consume the fat as energy. It accomplishes this fat mobilization as a natural extension of reducing insulin concentrations in the blood as well as an increase in fat mobilizing hormones such as adrenaline, noradrenaline and growth hormone. Interestingly enough, growth hormone is also released to conserve protein from catabolism. Protecting the proteins in your body during a fast is important because your body needs its lean tissues to survive (be they muscle or organ).
A benefit of fasting (for your mind) is that it alters your perspective on eating. At the end of a 30 hour fast, you want to eat something good for your body. You don’t want to gnosh on some french fries, slam a sugary soft drink and eat a bowl of ice cream. Even more, via abstaining from food even when it is available for consumption, you are putting your mind in control of your behavior. Taking back a bit of control over your life is an empowering feeling that leads to improved self-image and confidence."... Like i told you eariler my parents fasted.

Re: Intermittent Fasting
This is some great info! My main reason for fasting is intestinal health. The first 24 hour fast took a bit of willpower when it was reaching the end of the 24 hours, but I woke up feeling the desire to fast again. I'm going to try to stick with one meal a day for a bit and see what happens. My one meal today was a combination of blueberries, spinach, raw garlic (trying it for intestinal cleansing), bananas and 2 cups of warm soy milk, all put in a blender. It is my special blend to help out with Mr. Gut and actually doesn't taste too bad. I'm going to try to not eat again for another 24 hours and see how it goes. It is already dinner time and I have no desire to eat and I feel quite clear mentally. Thanks again for the info! Any more is certainly welcome. Also welcome Burn to the forums
Happy to have you! Take care.
