Chests are easy to make it give you items..
But just for better effect add a animation on chest opening

or find a animated model

Just for clarification:
during memories, (the player is) playing as theirself in the past, as a memory.
during present life, (the player is) playing as theirself in the present.
during future life, is that the future he sees, or the actual future? (it's not the future if it's happening now, get what I mean?)
and "you next of kin" (which I interpreted as your next of kin; AKA son/daughter/niece/nephew etc) is basically you dying and becoming a guardian angel kind of thing, right?

Also: possible problem: walkthrough-specific kind of plot, or just notes, like what you have now?

EDIT: wait a sec, aliens? is that right? and gangs? is that kid-friendly?

Yeah, that's perfectly fine. I am doing my best to update, but considering that my parents are AHOLES and expect me to actually do something without my laptop (even though they don't let me do anything fun -_-) so, yeah......
