How do I add music files and music packs?

Post by Glazed »

Well I'm trying to add a music file. If I'm gonna make a Hollow Bastion map, I'm gonna need to use the music from the game. So, what I did, is convert a MP3 file into a OGG file (cause I looked at the default music files in the music folder, and it says they're OGG), and moved it into the music folder where the other music files are.

However, mine doesn't show up. Why is that? I'm pretty sure I did everything right, but I guess if it isn't working, I didn't do something right.

if you want it to be listed in the menu, you need to add it to the scripts...
you should also note you're messing with a dangerous force dubbed copyright
This is not a url, clicking it is pointless

Well, I don't want to get into any legal problems. So, how would I add it the way where it WON'T mess with the copyright?

Well if your making the map for your own personal use no commercial I really don’t see a problem in it.

Ahh, you might want to do some more research. Most companies that produce commercial games have trademarks on their content, and if you want to use their content you have to have express written permission. Usually though they're lenient though for fan-created material, as it promotes their game and gets them attention.

I'd recommend looking up the details for that game, look at the license, read it over, and make sure you're in the safe zone.

So, like, there's cases where they OK it as long as they get the props, or don't allow any outside use of it?

I'll try to find it and read it.

I'm sure you could even send them an email or something through their contact methods, and ask whether or not it would be permissible. ;)
