My big tutorial
My big tutorial
Can anyone think of what else I need to include here - I know there is loads, but I'm tired and my brain cant think...
http://pasandbox.webs.com/3editingtutorial.htm
bear in mind that the basics tutorial before this tutorial shows people to open a new mapand move about, and the tutorial after it tells people how to work with entities.
Thanks, Owen.

Re: My big tutorial
for the materials, there's actually a secret material called aiclip, it keeps animals out but lets you in, it's only accessible by console command for materials, /editmat aiclip. It shows up yellow.
the last part about corner selection (very last thing, at bottom of page) is wrong, it's Q, not G, as G is gridsize changing. Which you didn't really talk about.
There's copying (C) and Pasting (V), too, to talk about. You might wanna mention how copying, changing gridsize, then pasting gives you a copy of whatever you made smaller/bigger (but proportionate) to what you originally copied.
I think that's it; you could put it on the wiki if you wanted, too...

Re: My big tutorial
your a hero for reading through all that
thanks, ill be sure to include what you said - I was thinking maybe a link from the wiki instead of transferring it all - I like to include pictures in my tutorials, which is hard to do on the wiki.
Once again thanks, and more comments are welcome!

Re: My big tutorial
hi,
I am new to Sandbox and I am trying to create a Cinema Map
with multiple screens.
I want to be able to have maybe 10 screen rooms with generic
videos titles called screen1video.avi, screen2video.avi etc
(I don't know if any other video format is possible)
This way I can simply change the videos in the video folder
to change what shows on the relative screens without having
to re-edit the Cinema Map.
I will be creating the videos using Camtasia or if there is a similar
program in Linux I would be pleased to hear about it, as I have
abandoned MS Windows forever and am now learning Linux.
Firstly, Is my Cinema Map possible?
Second, Would it be possible to create a Video Library so that a
player could select any Video to play in a Viewing Room?
This way my video selection could be virtually unlimited.
I would be very grateful if you can help...
thanks
Shaun

First Off, Playing A Video is Impossible, You Can Take Screenshots Of Every Frame And Texture Animate It To Play As A Video.shauncr wrote:hi,

And A Video Library Would Be Impossible Too, Unless You Create Rooms Equal To How Ever Many Video's You Want To Show...
Hope This Helps,

Re: My big tutorial
Hi Owenisred,
Could you work with me to help design a workflow for getting animated character models into Sandbox and how to create the qc file so they can be controlled in the game? I have a model we can work with that's fully rigged and textured;

Let me know if you are interested,
Always~

Re: My big tutorial
Hey there shaun, BlackGulf is correct. A good example of this would be the texas-tenim (or something) map. It has a screen with a monkey running across a train platform thingy. If you want to see the pictures, you can go to "packages/tutorial-texanim". Hope this helped.

Re: My big tutorial
thanks for your help...
but I have to say I'm a little disappointed,
I thought this software would be the answer.
I didn't realize how limited it is.
I'll have to look elsewhere, do you have any
ideas?
thanks again,
Shaun

Re: My big tutorial
If it was up to me, and if your graphics card is good enough, I'd suggest UDK.
UDK stands for Unreal Development Kit, and it's probably the most advanced, therefore the hardest to learn, game editor out there. It's also free so...NO MONEY WASTED! You can get to the website if you Google Unreal Development Kit.
Hope this helped!
