be careful with mapmodels, the engine tends to work a lot better with it's own geometry, rather than models. the rule of thumb is to use models for things that can't be shaped from geometry ;P

you also mentioned you were having some trouble with the GUIs, never fear, patches is here!

PS. I have an svg version of patches around here somewhere if you'd prefer that instead :P

Hirato this is great! Thank you so much! Will this work for the icons that hole the spells as well? I’m not sure how to patch the engine either, LOL! Do I need to re-compile the engine in C++? What I would really like to do is make a menu that sits at the bottom center of the screen so the player can access the spells and weapons easier. Do you think you could make something like that, which can be edited graphically?

Hi Grim, yes I think I may have accidently destroyed the geometry when I deleted two of the buildings I was making. Apparently the engine doesn’t like that very much at all and had a fit when I did. I’m now in the process of remaking my map but at least it gave me a chance to add some more textures to my list so that a good thing. This time I have a much better feel for how Sandbox works and will be able to maximize my production with it.

Always~

Vickie, Rule #2, Always keeps backups. hehe.

As for what you're talking about, I think you mean something like a 'Hotkey HUD' Something like THIS if I'm correct.

If I AM correct, then YES! It shouldn't be too hard to customize your HUD positioning in the code, although I never messed with it, it had to get there somehow right? n_n, Anyway, yeah ask Hirato about this, I've made my own HUD to mimic the one he has, but it's not too advanced.

Hey also, do you have any 2D work you make? like textures, logos etc. I'd like to see some. (:

the engine always makes a backup of the map and the associated -art.cfg file, when you save the map; just in case you want to revert to an older copy

regarding the HUD, we'll eventually have some configurable hotkeys for the RPG, but it'll take quite a bit of work to implement fully though, so it won't be ready in the too near future, but we'll see how that turns out

and what exactly do you mean with "hole spells"?

and in case you're intending to adventure in C++ lands, remember, there be dragons ;)

oh sorry Hirato, I ment the icons that "Hold" the spells. You know, the place holders for the spell and weapon icons.

Dec 21 2009, Day 7

Today I had to work late so I didn’t get to do a lot on my level; I have finals this week too. But needless to say I was able to remake my Castle! I started a new level because my other one has gone south as you know..LOL! (Yes this time I made a backup) So my new level I named “Fin” it’s a floating city where Adventures go with their Airships to seek work. “think FF8”, I have a bunch more to do to this level to get back to where I was but things are moving along pretty fast. I think I’m getting better with the Sandbox editor.
Here are today’s screen shots;

Thanks Daniel_san,
Hey when I finish this I'm going to give it to the community. This is just my practice game so I can learn to use the tools and upload models and textures into the level. :P
