Hi, I have two questions regarding mapmodels that I haven't been able to find definitive answers for in the FAQ and forums here.
1) Is there any way to change the scale of a mapmodel, while I am constructing a map in editmode? If not, what is my next best option? Will I need to alter the files containing the mapmodel information somehow or is there some other way to change the size of mapmodels?
2) I have been using the mapmodels included with the version of sandbox that I have downloaded recently and I find that some of them are set to clip (i.e. the player char cannot walkthrough them) whereas other mapmodels are set for no clipping. Can I change this somehow? I used a few mapmodels inside a room and two vase mapmodels were solid, but the player can walk right through the bed mapmodel, and I haven't figured out how to make the bed act as a solid object. Any advice?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

srry, I can't give you much help with 1) because I don't know
I thought the bed was solid,
But I can however help you with 2):
2) You can create solid areas with edit materials when you press esc, just 'esc', 'edit materials', solid, that solid stuff you won't see, but you can use it to make the bed solid, there's water, lava, respawn (die) and nosolid 2, if you want to delete these, just select it and click on 'air', that's under 'esc', 'edit materials' 2.

Re: Questions re: mapmodels
Yeah, I know how to select the geometry around the mapmodel and set that to "clip" (I think that's what you're suggesting right?) but I was hoping to find a way to alter the mapmodel itself since it's a real pain to create 3d boxes around the exact contours of a mapmodel that is fairly complex shaped and lying diagonally across the grid to boot. I kind of assumed since some mapmodels clipped and others didn't that there must be some setting somewhere that can be changed...
And to add to my ever growing list of questions about mapmodels, is there any way to manipulate the orientation of the texture while creating a map in editmode? I would love to find a way to rotate, and even do finer manipulations to textures while editing so that I can get rid of weird disjunct textures near the ends and corners of bits of geometry. I'm assuming this isn't possible right now, but any solutions would be really welcome on this end too!
So to recap that's
1)changing a mapmodel from noclip to clip?
2)scaling a mapmodel either while editing a map or by manipulating the files directly?
and
3) rotating/manipulating a texture while editing a map?
Thanks!

srry, idk, but you can change it the edit material way
Re: Questions re: mapmodels
To change the scaling you have to edit a mapmodel's md3.cfg
the line:
mdlscale [Number]
Controls scaling. Just make the number bigger or smaller to fit your needs ^_^

Re: Questions re: mapmodels
Thanks for the tip about scaling DrChef! I found a reference to the mdlscale command earlier but I didn't know which file it applied to. Mine are titled md2.cfg instead of md3 for some reason but they seem to work with the command when I open them with a text editor, so I guess this is the same thing you were refering to.
Does this mean that the only way to use the same mapmodel in different scales is to copy, rename and import an additional mapmodel and change its scaling this way?
I guess I'll have to avoid ideas using lots of identical mapmodels of varying sizes.

Re: Questions re: mapmodels
as far as I know, that's the only way you can have varying sizes of the same mapmodel
unfortunately there is no S+scroll command

Re: Questions re: mapmodels
fromwhat i've found, when you open the .cfg of your mapmodel, it doesn't matter what modeltype you use,(obj,md3,md5,etc...) the mdlscale command works everytime. as far as rotating textures, i havent found anything on that yet, but i think that if you use photoshop and rotate your texture 90 degrees then save and put it into the texture list, that should take care of that. if i come across anything that would be easier i will definately let you know
